Disk Space Pro Help

Disk Drives

The drives screen contains a list of hard drives, external drives, network drives, DVD's, CD's, memory cards, and USB drives on your computer. Each one will show Drive Name, Total Size, Used Space, Free Space, and a graph showing the amount of used space.

  • Click eject button to eject a removable drive.
  • Right click on a Drive for show in Finder.
  • Float mouse over the drive icons for disk type.
  • Float mouse over graphs for percent of used space.

Refresh Disk Drives - Refreshes the drive information list in addition to automatic updating.
Sort by name or size - Sorts the drive information list sorted by name or size, defaults to size.
Launch Disk Utility - Opens Disk Utility where you can verify and repair your disk drives.



 
Home Folders Setup

This sets up the home folders screen. Disk Space Pro needs permission to read the file size information from your home folders. Click on continue and then click on open, your home folder will be selected. You must complete setup for the home folders screen to work.

Continue - Opens a file chooser, select your home folder and click save.



 
Home Folders

The folders screen contains a list of your home folders. To scan just click the Scan home folders button. It may take a while to run depending on how many files are on your computer. When it finishes you can sort the list by folder name or folder size by clicking on the column headings folders and size.

You last scan is automatically loaded when you start the app and the date and time is displayed.

  • Click on a folder icon or name for single click drill down.
  • After drilling down use the back button to back up a folder level.
  • Click on a file icon or name for Quick Look.
  • Right click on a Drive for show in Finder and Get Info.
  • Right click on a File for show in Finder, Get Info, and Quick Look.
  • Float mouse over graphs for percent of used space.

The scan history screen allows you to see your scan history. To scan just click the Scan button. It may take a while to run depending on how many files are on your computer. When it finishes you can sort the list by folder name or folder size.

  • Click on a folder icon or name to load a saved scan.
  • Click the delete button in the list to delete a single scan.

Scan - Select a folder or drive and the app scans the folder sizes and fills in the size and graph information.
Sort by name or date - Sorts the folder information list sorted by name or date, defaults to date.
Delete all - Deletes all files in your scan history.



 
Preferences

Changing your preferences can really customize the app to your needs.



 

The preferences screen has settings for:

Scan notifications - Turn scan notifications on and off.
Notification sounds - Turn notification sounds on and off.
Disk graphs - Shows graphs in green, yellow, and red or just green.
File graphs - Shows graphs in blue, yellow, and red or just blue.
Show hidden items in results - Which hidden folders and files will be displayed in scan results.
Show large files in results - Which file sizes will be displayed in scan results.
